Noxious Weeds

Noxious Weed Management

The state of Wyoming maintains a list of plant species that are a significant threat to the health of people, the environment, or the economy and therefore need to be managed. A list of these species, along with a list of Laramie County designated species, can be found at the Laramie County Weed and Pest Website.  Cheyenne Weed and Pest takes on the responsibility of tracking and reducing these pests on City owned property.

Biological Management

Several of the listed noxious/invasive weed species are susceptible to insect species which we use to manage their populations. These insects are natural predators of the target species and do not feed on other plants. For a full list of species we release please contact us.

Chemical Management

When necessary, Weed and Pest will use chemical herbicides to manage noxious/invasive weeds.

Herbicides will be applied when needed to control designated noxious weeds on City owned property. Times, locations, and product used will be listed here on the day before the applications. All applications are on a weather permitting basis.
